Crumbled cardamom halawa worked straight into a classic shortbread dough.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup Balsam Cardamom Halawa, crumbled
- 2 1/4 cups flour
METHOD
- Cream the butter and sugar, then work in the crumbled halawa.
- Mix in the flour just until a dough forms.
- Roll into a log, chill for 30 minutes, then slice and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 12–14 minutes.
Chilling the dough is essential here — the halawa softens the dough more than butter alone, so a cold log slices much more cleanly.
